5 Reasons Laughter is the Best Medicine!

April 21st, 2015

The universal language of the world is laughter. There are no language barriers when it comes to interpreting it, everyones speaks laughter. It’s time to spread the best medicine on earth that has no negative side effects. We promise.

Here are 5 reasons laughter is the best medicine:

1. Laughter is infectious:

Spread the happiness and brighten someone’s day by sharing a few laughs to lift the spirits and suppress negative emotions.

2. It strengthens your immune system:

People with a positive outlook and happy attitude tend to laugh more than people who focus on negativity. By laughing more, you decrease your stress level, especially during difficult times, which can lead to a more healthy life!

3. Boosts energy:

Laughter can give you the will power to push forward and muster up the strength to get back on the horse. It can give you the energy and motivation to get through an illness or tragedy and move forward.

4. Helps ease symptoms of depression:

Often times people suffering from depression have many physical symptoms, such as body aches and pains. Laughing to brighten your mood can alleviate depression and the symptoms associated with it.

5. Alleviates stress:

Stress is a common daily occurrence that can easily overcome our lives. Try to laugh at least once day and release some of that built up negative energy.

Question: I love the Invigorate blend and use it every day! Can I use stimulating blends (like Invigorate) and the Sleep blend without any conflicts?

Answer: I encourage people to layer our blends! You can absolutely use conflicting blends in the same day, I just suggest waiting a few hours in between. To be safe, I would avoid using any stimulating blends at least two hours before bedtime.

Question: Lately I’ve been feeling depressed. Can essential oils help?

Answer: Essential oils can be an amazing, natural way to fight depression. I would recommend our Uplift, Carry On and Will Power blends. Uplift manages the blues, buoys your down spirit and brightens your outlook. Carry On soothes heartbreak, eases shock and grief and allows you to move on. Will Power increases your determination and drive while motivating you into action. These three blends will help get your mind to a better place.

Happy Woman

Question: Can you recommend anything that would have a calming/happy effect?

Answer: I created two blends for your calming and soothing needs: Calm and De-Stress. De-Stress was created for full-on anxiety, whereas calm is more about taking the edge off. I would also recommend Uplift. This blend will help brighten your outlook and offer emotional support.

Question: What can I use to improve my libido?

Answer: I’d recommend Strength for improving libido. The Rosemary encourages clarity and confidence, Rose is a natural anti-depressant and aphrodisiac, and Cedarwood is grounding and fortifying. This blend happens to be one of my favorites.

Why Lavender is the Most Widely Used Essential Oil

July 31st, 2014

The Granddaddy of essential oils, Lavender has been used for thousands of years by a host of civilizations. The Egyptian, Phoenician and Arabian people coveted it for its perfume properties; the ancient Greeks used it as a cure for everything from insomnia to aching backs to insanity; the Romans infused their bath water with its flowers, giving Lavender its name, from lavare–the Latin word for wash. For centuries, Europeans even sprinkled Lavender on interior floors to disinfect and deodorize their homes.

Lavender Essential Oil

Even today, Lavender is the most widely used essential oil. Some could argue it is the (almost) all encompassing essential oil, as its healing properties truly run the gamut. And Lavender’s floral, balanced aroma blends easily with most other oils.

Emotionally, Lavender calms, soothes and nurtures, encouraging balance in all the bodily systems. It should come as no shock that many nighttime lotions tend to have a lavender scent. Many massage therapists use it in massage oils for deep relaxation, and it can be simply dropped (only 3-5 drops) in a warm bath in the privacy of your own home.

But lavender’s properties extend much further than just its calming effects.  Research shows that Lavender is analgesic, antirheumatic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic and an antioxidant.

Lavender can be found in 6 of our essential oil blends:

Detox – to soothe nerves

Headache – to pacify, nurture and rebalance

De-Stress – to reduce anxiety

Uplift – to brighten the spirit

Carry On – to balance the emotions

Immunity – to help purify the body

Ask Cary: Pregnancy + Chemotherapy

This week’s topics: Pregnancy + Chemotherapy

7-18 pregnancy + chemo

Question: Which blends would you recommend for someone who is pregnant?

Answer: While I recommend most pregnant women in their first trimester try to avoid using essential oils, if you are experiencing morning sickness or sleep issues, the oils in these blends (Digest and Sleep) are gentle enough to not be of concern. I would use the blends only as needed throughout your pregnancy, and if you can get the same effect from inhaling them vs. rolling them on, that would be milder on your system. I started using the oils when I was pregnant, as I wanted a natural way to treat my concerns and my babies. But less is more when it comes to using any additional supplements!

Question: My mom is about to undergo chemotherapy. Any suggestions on a good aromatherapy product to combat or lessen the side effects?

Answer: Digest can help to fortify her digestive track, but in addition, each oil has numerous healing qualities and positive effects. The ginger in this blend will help with any nausea, the orange is uplifting to the spirit, german chamomile has analgesic, anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory characteristics, and cardamom is refreshing and antiseptic. This blend can also be used to help stimulate the appetite. I suggest rolling it directly on to the stomach in addition to the pulse points. You might also want to consider Uplift to help buoy her spirits, as well as your own, or Sleep to help rest soundly and peacefully.

Ask Cary: Scent + Breakups

This week: Scent + Breakups

Question: I’m very intrigued by these products and can’t wait to try them, but do they do double-duty? Could I use them as perfume as well? Or are the aromatics simply for the effects they have on your body?

Answer: Essential oils are very powerful healing tools on many levels. They are complex oils with many properties. While they may smell good, they do have other benefits. The essential oils we use in our blends are therapeutic quality, which provide both physiological and emotional benefits. What most people don’t realize is that while our therapeutic blends have beautiful scents, the scent will not last as long as a perfume because we do not use any additives in our products. Rather, the oils are meant to absorb quickly into the skin and get to work immediately. If you are looking for the most “fragrant” and uplifting blends, I recommend Strength, Passion, Equalize or Uplift.

Question: What would you recommend for a heavy heart? A recent breakup has left me feeling great loss and sadness.

Answer: I feel for you in your sadness. I knew that feeling all too well when I lost my mother 15 years ago. That was when I first created my Carry On blend. The oils in this blend really helped me to connect with my inner sadness, be ok with it, but then also supported me to move forward through that difficult time. That is the blend I would recommend for your situation.

De-Stressing After a Car Accident

October 29th, 2013

“I was in an automobile accident 5 years ago and broke my right foot when I slammed on the brake; unfortunately due to my diabetic neuropathy, complication from Type 2 diabetes, I could not feel the maximum excruciating pain in my right foot and leg since I had lost so much feeling and so much damage had been done to my nerves.”

“I have had 9 surgeries since then and 3 sets of hardware to straighten and my stabilize my foot and leg. The good news is that I have worked hard in rehab and my foot and leg are intact. I walk with a 7 pound white clamshell brace and massage ”de-stress” into my foot, ankle area and right leg up to my knee daily. It is so miraculous that the ”de-stress” has been a rejeuvenating and pain-relieving and strengthening force to help my foot and leg and also has energized me so I can actually power-walk again. It has been calming, strengthening and has given me renewed hope for the future, even though my right leg is now 3 inches shorter than my left leg since my right ankle bone crumbled. I am so very grateful for ”de-stress” and cannot imagine life without it.”

“Additionally, I have started using other 21-drops blends: Will-Power and Uplift, which I ordered for my Mother for Mother’s Day. She also loved it when I would massage the De-Stress into her right arm, shoulder and wrist, since she fell on her 88th birthday in February. These were sent to the wrong address and replacements arrived a week after Mother’s Day…Caroline said that to make up for my order not arriving by Mother’s Day, a replacement of De-Stress would be sent to my Mother, no charge. It has been 5 months and I have n0t yet received a replacement vial. To demonstrate good faith I would appreciate your sending a full-size DE-STRESS along with a mini-rollerball of Headache. I love your products and am making a monthly order of 1 or 2 rollerballs part of my budget plans even though I have so many medical bills. Your products have given me new hope for my daily life and my future. Thank you so much.”

Helping with the “Baby Blues”

October 29th, 2013

“I’m a new Mom to a beautiful 7 month old daughter and although being a Mother is an incredible experience, it’s not to say that it also doesn’t come with some obstacles & challenges! Post-pregnancy those initial ”baby blues” carried over past those initial first several weeks and having lost my insurance post-baby, I didn’t have the $300 per session for the Psychiatrist nor did I want to commit to a life of anti-depressants, etc.”

“Being an Aesthetician at a spa where we carry 21 Drops, I considered taking an alternative approach to help manage the mild post-partum depression that I was battling. I gave #10 Calm, #12 Uplift & #7 Equalize a try in conjunction with a few other remedies that we carry at the spa. The results have been remarkable and I am happy to say that I’ve been able to stay out of the doctor’s office and overall feel much more…calm, uplifted, and equalized! I like to take a moment, close my eyes and inhale whichever one I’m using first, then apply to my temples, behind my earlobes, on my wrists and even around my nostrils so that the scent lingers. I was a desperate skeptic at first, but now… I’m a believer!”
